5 Tips to Help You Have a Healthy Pregnancy
Having a healthy pregnancy affects not just you, but your baby and family too. Caring for yourself begins before you become pregnant and follows through until after the delivery of your newborn. To help get you started in your journey towards pregnancy health, here are five great tips:
Assess your physical health – if you’re planning on trying for a baby, make an appointment with your GP first. A check-up will help assure you that your body is in the best condition and may identify ways you can improve your fertility levels too. Now is also the time to stop smoking and drinking alcohol and start taking a folic acid supplement.
Exercise – keeping healthy involves keeping active. This can be as simple as going for a walk each day or attending a pregnancy exercise class. Activities such as Pilates, swimming and yoga are generally fine, but if you’re pregnant it’s important you check with your doctor or midwife begin beginning any exercise program.
Work on your pelvic floor muscles – your pelvic floor muscles will not only help you with the birth of your child, but also help prevent any wee accidents during or after childbirth. Here’s a great link to a site which explains what your pelvic muscles are and how to strengthen them.
Eat healthily – often things get challenging when morning sickness and cravings kick in. We can recommend Vanessa Megan Morning Sickness Spray to help reduce those queasy feelings. Sprayed onto skin and not taken orally, it contains diluted organic essential oils to assist with nausea, metal fatigue and depression, as well as offering calming and soothing properties.
