Why You Should Switch to Using Only Natural Perfume
It’s time to ditch those chemical laden fragrances and switch to using natural perfume today. Not only do they smell divine, but a natural perfume doesn’t contain any nasties. What nasties, you may say. Well, let us share with you what fragrance manufacturers don’t want you to know, plus explain the benefits of switching to a natural perfume too.
We Explain Why You Should Switch to a Natural Perfume
We’ve been using perfume for centuries to make ourselves smell nice and appeal to others. What started off by using essential oils and other natural perfumes, has turned into a giant industry which uses thousands of potentially dangerous chemicals all aide of helping us smell great.
What’s not so great, is that many of the parabens and phthalates used when making synthetic perfume can damage our liver and kidneys, cause allergic reactions, migraines, nausea and interfere with our hormone production. Does this sound like a product you want to be using?
There are over 3,000 chemicals which fragrance manufacturers can use within their products and label it as ‘parfum’ or ‘fragrance.’ They’re not required by law to tell us what their products specifically contain, but we will tell you about the not so great side of synthetic fragrances.
A synthetic perfume is absorbed into our bloodstream when we breathe in the scent or apply it to our skin. This means that your body will contain:
Endocrine disruptors – affects fertility, sleep, metabolism and growth
Phthalates – known relationships with weight gain, autism, ADHD, breast cancer and low IQ
Synthetic musk – musk ketone is stored in our breast milk and fat tissue
Petrochemicals – fancy wearing some acetone, benzaldehyde, benzyl acetate, camphor, ethanol, ethyl acetate and methylene chloride anyone?
But what about natural perfumes? Do they contain any nasties which can hurt us?
No. A natural perfume or cologne contains only natural ingredients such as essential oils, balsam (tree sap) and other plant extracts, natural fragrances and botanical ingredients. They leave your body smelling divine and provide beneficial aromatherapy properties at the same time.
